UFC 276: Adesanya vs. Cannonier: Card, Preview, Prospects, Time and Odds

UFC 276 is set to take place on the UFC International fight week at T — Mobile Arena in Lass Vegas, Nevada on July 2nd. This is the 10th International fight week of UFC; this fight week will start with UFC Hall of fame 2022 ceremony, and then UFC X where fans can meet their favorite fighters, and all of this will be topped by the star studded UFC 276 fight card. UFC 276 will be headlined by the two title fights; in the main event the reigning UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya will defend his strap against Jared Cannonier and in the co- main event the featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski will take on number 1 contender Max Holloway in their famous trilogy.

UFC 276 has 12 fights in total; this card is stacked with a lot of veterans, contenders and potential prospects. The main card will start 10 pm ET/ 7 pm PT on ESPN+ PPV, while the prelims will start at 8pm ET/ 5pm PT and fans can watch it on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+.

Main Event

In the main event, Israel Adesanya will defend his Middleweight crown against Jared Cannonier. This will be the 5th title defense for Adesanya; he is still undefeated at 185 lbs division and has victory over all the top guys in this weight. Jared is ranked number 2nd in the middleweight and he is on a 2 fight winning streak, he has victory over Kelvin Gastelum, Derek Brunson and UFC legend Anderson Silva.

This is very exciting matchup, both Israel and Jared are strikers and it is almost certain that this fight will most likely to be happens at feet. Cannonier is the powerhouse, he has the unreal knockout ability while Adesanya is much more technical and elusive kick boxer. Adesanya likes to control the range and pick his opponents apart from a distance with his kicks and long punches; Jared has to get in close with Adesanya to land his power shots. All these factors and fighting styles make this a very interesting fight and fans are hoping to see something spectacular from this fight.

Co- Main Event

In the Co- main event, Alexander Volkanovski will fight Max Holloway in their trilogy for the featherweight crown. This is the best and most technical fight on the whole card; they both are the elite group of fighters and arch nemesis of each other. Fans are calling this as people’s main event because of the magnitude of this fight, Volkanovski won their first two encounters, but both fights were extremely closed and it could have gone either way.

This will be the 4th title defense of Volkanovski; he has been very active lately, in last September he beat Brian Ortega and in April he beat The Korean Zombie and now he is facing Max again in July. Max beat Yair Rodriguez back in November, he was supposed to fight Volkanovski in April but he got injured and The Korean Zombie replaced him to fight the champion. This fight is very hard to pick, as both guys are very technical and skilled; and it is expected that this fight will be a war again.

Main Card

On the main card, Sean Strickland is fighting against Alex Pereira for the next potential contender for the Middleweight title. Sean is ranked number 4th in the division and he is riding on his 5 fights win streak; while Alex Pereira is still unranked in the middleweight division. Pereira has only 2 fights in the UFC, but he is in this position because of his history with the Champion Israel Adesanya. UFC is pushing Pereira for the potential fight against Adesanya which will be a massive PPV event; on the other hand Strickland vs. Adesanya will also be a very big draw. This fight will determine the shape of the Middleweight division for the next few months, there is a lot of stakes for both fight that’s why fan are speculating action packed battle between these two.

UFC Veteran Robbie Lawler is also competing on this card against Bryan Barberena. Both Barberena and Robbie are very tough fighters and they are very known for their brawling fighting style, this fight between them will be very entertaining.

The Main card will kick off with one of the best fights of the night with Pedro Munhoz taking on Sean O’ Malley in a bantamweight bout. Sean has a lot of hype behind him and currently he is sitting at number 13th position in the bantamweight ranking. Pedro has fought with all the top guys in the division and he is looking to get back in winning column against O’ Malley and get all the momentum. It’s the huge opportunity for Sean O’ Malley to hop in the top 10 and starting his case for the title challenge.

There are many other excited fights on prelims and early prelims. There are few prospects that are competing on this card as well, and people should keep their eyes on them.
